Following a meeting on Friday, March 11, the UNCW Board of Trustees approved a confidential unranked list of chancellor candidates to recommend to UNC System President Peter Hans. The list was prepared by the UNCW Chancellor Search Committee following a comprehensive, national search to fill the position succeeding Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli’s retirement on June 30, 2022.

President Hans will carefully consider each candidate and nominate one for election by the UNC Board of Governors.

Gidget Kidd '91, Chair of the UNCW Board of Trustees and Chancellor Search Committee, thanked members of the search committee and the trustees for their participation and commitment to the search for a leader to guide UNCW’s future.

“The search committee and the trustees have been guided throughout this process by their commitment to UNCW and its high standards,” Kidd said. “I am indebted to the campus, community and UNC System colleagues for their collaboration and keen interest in helping the university recruit and recommend a strong slate of finalists to share with President Hans.”
