Thursday, June 10, 2021

UNCW’s Office of the Arts has been approved for two substantial arts programming grants.

The National Endowment for the Arts awarded UNCW’s Office of the Arts a $75,000 Our Town grant to support Roll Call: Creativity Reporting For Duty. This is one of 63 grants nationwide that the agency has approved to support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities with efforts to strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes, ultimately laying the groundwork for sustainable systems change.

Additionally, UNCW’s William Madison Randall Library and the Office of the Arts are among 61 national organizations selected to receive a 2021-22 NEA Big Read grant. A grant of $20,000 will support a community reading program focusing on The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. An initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, the NEA Big Read broadens understanding of our world, our communities and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.
