UNCW Part of National COVID-19 Vaccination Challenge

Thursday, June 03, 2021

UNCW has joined colleges and universities nationwide that are participating in the White House’s College Vaccine Campus Challenge, an effort to help the United States reach at least a 70 percent COVID-19 vaccination rate.

Participating colleges and universities commit to three key actions: engaging every student, faculty and staff member; organizing their college communities; and providing vaccine access for all.

UNCW has engaged in each of those actions since vaccines became available, said Student Health Center Director Katrin Wesner-Harts. The goal of the campus challenge is to continue those efforts and to make sure the campus community knows vaccines are available and accessible.

“We will continue to focus on the importance of being vaccinated, because our goal is to return to a more typical fall,” Wesner-Harts said. The university previously announced that students who provide proof of vaccination to the Student Health Center will not be required to participate in weekly surveillance testing.

Vaccines are available to campus and community members – no appointment necessary – at the Student Health Center Monday through Thursday from 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m., and Friday from 8-11 a.m. through June 21.

After June 21, please call 910.962.3280 for availability. COVID-19 testing for students is available by appointment through the Student Health Center.
