Seahawks Give: Challenge Raises $362,000 in 24 Hours

In just 24 hours, more than 1,820 donors, including a record number of alumni, showed their support for UNCW duringSeahawks Give, the university’s 24-hour giving challenge that has become a spirited tradition. 
Donors helped raise approximately $362,000, a 72% increase over the best year in the challenge's seven-year history.Through their participation, alumni, students, parents, employees and friends of the university unlocked more than $65,000 in challenge funds.  
“UNCW donors love being able to direct their gifts to the programs, scholarships and initiatives that they care about most,” said Eddie Stuart, vice chancellor for university advancement. This tradition provides a unique opportunity to amplify their impact through contests and challenge gifts. Seeing the Seahawk family come together with such an inspiring show of support demonstrates that our programs, our faculty, our students and our mission are worth investing in. 
Stuart said UNCW was among the first universities to initiate a 24-hour challenge. 
“I’m proud of how our advancement team and campus community continue to elevate this tradition year after year while staying steadfast to only counting what is committed within a short 24-hour period,” he said. “Our donors always rise to the challenge and our record-breaking results reiterate that our university is truly like no other.”
