UNCW eSports Program Now Accepting Applications, Launches New Website
Friday, October 23, 2020
Two new certificate programs in eSports are now accepting applications. The undergraduate and graduate programs, offered by the Watson College of Education, are the first of their kind in North Carolina. Coursework can be completed entirely online.“The new eSports website was designed as a home for all that is eSports at UNCW,” said Ray Pastore, associate professor of instructional technology and coordinator of the eSports programs. “It's a place for us to show the community each facet of eSports at UNCW, which includes: curriculum certificates, Seahawk eSports club, teams, events, and community partnerships.”
Each 18-credit-hour certificate will prepare students with the knowledge needed to lead eSports teams; create gaming content and media for the industry; incorporate eSports and gaming into education; and design and manage related programs and events.
To find out more information about the certificate programs or to apply, please visit the new eSports website. Learn more about Dr. Pastore’s personal and professional interests in gaming in his We Are UNCW profile.
