UNCW ALERT: ALL CLEAR - Tornado Warning for Main Campus
Monday, August 03, 2020
11:56 p.m. - ALL CLEAR - An all clear has been issued for the tornado warning for the area including the UNCW main campus and/or the Center for Marine Science.
8:34 p.m. - A Tornado Warning has been issued for the area including the UNCW main campus and/or the Center for Marine Science.
Seek shelter immediately in the nearest permanent building and remain sheltered until the warning has expired. Avoid modular buildings and facilities with wide span roofs (e.g. Trask Coliseum and Burney Center). Move to an interior hallway or a room on the lowest floor of the building, avoid windows and take shelter beneath a desk or heavy furniture. Refer to building evacuation plans for the designated tornado shelter zone(s).
Wait for an all-clear message from UNCW. Monitor your cell phone, campus email, the UNCW homepage, university social media feeds, and local media. Updates will be shared when available.
If you are not currently on the UNCW main campus and/or the Center for Marine Science, avoid the area. If you are a parent, please wait for your student to contact you, as UNCW responders are busy addressing life safety. Excessive phone calls may delay emergency response.
