UNCW Board of Trustees Elects 2020-21 Officers

The UNCW Board of Trustees elected officers for the 2020-21 academic year at Friday’s quarterly meeting.
 
Henry L. (Hal) Kitchin, Jr., a Wilmington resident and member of the board since 2013, has been re-elected as chair. Kitchin’s community activities have included serving as Chair of the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and the Cape Fear Future Foundation. He is also a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation. As chair, Kitchin will continue to lead the Board of Trustees, the Executive Committee, and the Endowment Board.

Gidget Kidd ’91, a member of the board since 2013, was elected as vice chair. Kidd is a current member and past chair of the Asheboro City Schools Board of Education, and has been engaged as a leader in numerous community organizations, including Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, the local Partnership for Children, Randolph Hospital Foundation, and the Salvation Army. She currently serves as a member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, the External Affairs Committee and the Executive Committee.
 
Henry “Hank” Miller III ’85, a Wrightsville Beach resident and member of the board since 2015, was elected as board secretary. Miller currently serves as a member of the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Wrightsville Beach, and has served in leadership roles with numerous civic organizations, including the Wilmington Urban Area Transportation Advisory Committee, the Wilmington Regional Association of REALTORS Government Affairs Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. Hank acts as the chair of the Educational Planning and Programs Committee, and is a member of the Audit, Risk & Compliance, Business Affairs and Executive committees.

The officer elections were held July 17 during the trustees’ July meeting.
