Wednesday, November 06, 2019
UNCW's College of Health and Human Services is transitioning its undergraduate athletic training program to the master’s degree level. The first cohort for the new program will start in the second summer session of 2020. The MSAT program will consist of five semesters of didactic class work (60 credit hours) in conjunction with more than 1,000 hours of clinical integration.
Steve Zinder, athletic training program coordinator, said the program is designed to prepare students for a successful career as a qualified health care professional.
“The transition to the master’s degree level will more strategically align us with other health care professions and better prepare our students for their transition to clinical practice in an ever-changing health care environment,” he said. The program will offer an innovative curriculum that will be highlighted with clinical opportunities throughout the region.
