Seafood Investors and Experts Seeking the Next Big Catch Invited to Dive into “Fish 2.0”

Monday, March 18, 2019

There are many reasons to travel to Wilmington – delectable seafood being just one of them. UNCW will host a workshop for U.S. South Atlantic fisheries and aquaculture businesses April 23-24. Fish 2.0 creates the opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet potential investors and industry experts to learn about emerging technologies and trends.

“The South Atlantic seafood industry will benefit from entrepreneurs sharing their innovative thinking and best practices to help build business that will be productive, profitable and provide the region with sustainable seafood for generations to come,” said Diane Durance, director of the UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to talk about their business in an engaging way.
  • Hear what makes investors say yes or no.
  • Get a taste of seafood innovation in the region.
  • Network with the Fish 2.0 global community and broader seafood sector.
  • Tour UNCW’s Shellfish Research Hatchery.

Participation is free but space is limited. The event is open to all fishery and aquaculture businesses from Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia and the Atlantic coast of Florida involved in seafood supply chains, climate resilience technologies or seafood production, including aquaculture, wild harvesting or trade.

Eligibility requirements and registration details are available online.

As the state’s coastal university, UNCW connects knowledge and resources to contribute to economic growth and the quality of life across the region, as noted in its Strategic Plan.
