The University of North Carolina Wilmington is ranked 5th on 2019's list of the Best Online Colleges in North Carolina, according to the website Guide to Online Schools. Colleges were ranked according to affordability and potential for salary-based earnings. The listing highlights 20 online programs offered by UNCW, including the Master of Science in Clinical Research, the Executive M.B.A. and the Doctor of Nursing Practice.

The university ranked 3rd for Best Online Colleges Offering Bachelor’s in Criminology Degrees. UNCW is one of three schools in the UNC System recognized for Best Online Colleges Offering Bachelor’s in Elementary Education Degrees, ranking 13th. UNCW was also recognized as one of two North Carolina System schools earning the title of Best Online Colleges Offering Bachelor’s in Education Degrees, ranking 20th on the list. Guide to Online Schools is a product of the SR Education Group, which has been issuing college rankings since 2009.

Recently, UNCW was named the 5th most innovative public university in the South by U.S. News & World Report. The university also earned recognitions in U.S. News’ “Best Colleges 2019” guidebook, ranking 6th among public universities and tying for 15th overall with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on the list of Best Regional Universities in the South.

UNCW’s Strategic Plan emphasizes academic programs that are accessible to both traditional and nontraditional students and that prepare graduates to compete for jobs in their field. It also emphasizes affordability and excellence, and the university has consistently been recognized as a “best value” in higher education based on cost of attendance and academic rigor.
