Today's the Day to Make a Difference: UNCW's Annual One-Day Giving Challenge

Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Homecoming, Sammy the Seahawk, Move-In, Wagsgiving – many images come to mind when thinking of UNCW’s storied 70 years

The Give More in 24 Challenge, UNCW’s annual one-day giving event, is a fairly recent tradition in which all alumni, students, parents, employees and friends are invited be a part of and continue the tradition of excellence that UNCW has known since its founding as Wilmington College in 1947.

For 24 hours beginning at 8 a.m. on April 24, Seahawks and friends are encouraged to give any amount to any area of the university. If the 1,000-donor goal is met, each donor’s gift will be increased by $24 in challenge funds. The goal is to reach 1,000 donors during this 24-hour giving challenge. If the goal is met, $55,000 will be unlocked for the university. Last year, more than $238,000 was raised in gifts and pledges, plus challenge funds.

“The Give More in 24 Challenge is an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a Seahawk and shine a spotlight on what’s possible when the UNCW family comes together to make a difference,” said Lauren King '04, director of annual giving.
