UNCW added seven more first place finishes to its haul as the Wendy's Seahawk Invitational drew to a close on Saturday at the Harold Greene Track & Field Complex.

Competing under sunny, breezy conditions, the student-athletes from 17 schools finished the two-day meet with 17 events on Saturday. In addition, the third annual "Fastest Kid In New Hanover County" competition was staged and former Seahawk standouts Fatima Shuler and Bob Vanderham were honored.
 
"Overall, it was a great weekend," said third-year UNCW Head Coach Layne Schwier. "It's always tough competing during spring break, but we had family, friends and alumni here supporting us. That really gave us a boost and brought out the best in us."
