Tuesday, November 14, 2017
UNCW and many of its campus-based and distance education programs continue to earn new accolades from multiple ranking organizations. The university was recently named 2nd among the “50 Best Online Master of Liberal Studies Degree Programs 2018” by the website Master’s Program Guide, ranked 6th on a list of “Best Online Colleges in North Carolina” by the website College Choice and was listed 7th among “Best Colleges in North Carolina 2017-18” by the website College Consensus.
"UNCW earns recognition because we are committed to providing programs that meet the needs of our increasingly diverse and career-focused students,” said Provost Marilyn Sheerer. “Our programs align with the 21st-century proficiencies employers expect of college graduates, and the university will continue to prepare its students to compete in a global economy.”
Academic excellence and preparing students for post-graduate success are key priorities in UNCW’s Strategic Plan.
UNCW has been consistently recognized for excellence in academics and was recognized again this year by prestigious organizations including U.S. News &World Report, The Princeton Review and the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018. More recently, the career website Zippia listed 12 individual UNCW programs among the Best in North Carolina: public health (2nd), social work (2nd), communication (3rd), music (3rd), nursing (3rd), theatre (3rd), chemistry (4th), psychology (4th), anthropology (5th), biology (5th), history (5th) and sociology (7th).
