Theatre Continues Season with Coming-of-Age Summer Camp Saga
Wednesday, November 01, 2017
The UNCW Department of Theatre 2017-18 season continues with Gregory Moss’s “Billy Witch,” directed by assistant professor Robin Post.
Winner of the Reva Shiner Comedy Award, “Billy Witch” draws from the nostalgia of 1980s slasher films and campfire legends to tell the tale of awkward adolescent Oliver’s kooky encounters at Blue Triangle Nature Fun Time Summer Camp.
This is the second show Post has directed at UNCW. On working with playwright Moss, she said, “We had pretty consistent conversations about the play from the time I decided to direct. Taking into consideration his vision for the piece and receiving clarification to the pieces that weren’t as obvious to me has been a tremendous help.”
“Billy Witch” will run Nov. 9-12 and Nov. 16-19. All shows will take place on the Mainstage Theatre in the UNCW Cultural Arts Building. Tickets are $15 for the general public; $12 for seniors, UNCW employees and alumni, and $6 for students (sales tax included). They are available at the Kenan Box Office, by calling 910.962.3500 or online. They can also be purchased in person one hour prior to each show. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Post, Moss and the cast will be present for a talk-back on opening night.
