UNCW Plans to Conduct a Low-Volume “Growl” Siren Test on Sunday, June 4

Friday, June 02, 2017

The UNCW Office of Environmental Health & Safety plans to conduct a low-volume “growl” test of the Seahawk Warning Siren System between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 4. Each siren will emit a very brief sound when tested. No action is required when the sirens sound during testing.

The Seahawk Warning Siren System is an outdoor emergency warning tool that the university uses in conjunction with a number of other resources, such as the UNCW homepage, Facebook, Twitter, campus-wide emails, mass text messages and phone calls to communicate with the UNCW community during emergencies. EH&S periodically tests the siren system and other emergency communication tools as part of their routine maintenance.
