Thursday, May 18, 2017

Sara Thorndike, associate vice chancellor for finance and controller at UNCW, is among a group of 16 exceptional business and finance professionals from colleges and universities across the country selected by the National Association of College and University Business Officers for its 2017-18 NACUBO Fellows Program.

The NACUBO Fellows Program is a professional development initiative designed to prepare promising professionals for leadership positions in higher education business and finance.

“This is a great professional growth opportunity for me and will also be beneficial for UNCW’s finance team,” Thorndike said. “I am looking forward to collaborating and learning from my peers at the other 15 campuses and sharing my experience with my colleagues here.”

During the intensive one-year program, NACUBO Fellows work with higher education presidents, provosts and chief business officers to deepen their knowledge of business management, institutional communications and the expanding role of chief business officers on campus.

“Sara’s selection as a Fellow is a testament to her hard work and talent,” said Rick Whitfield, vice chancellor for business affairs. “Her participation reflects the university’s commitment to professional development for our employees.”

NACUBO is a nonprofit professional organization representing chief administrative and financial officers at more than 2,100 colleges and universities across the country. Its mission is to advance the economic viability, business practices and support for higher education institutions in pursuit of their missions.
