UNCW’s Class of 2017 Shatters Giving Campaign Record

Friday, April 28, 2017

Before they officially fly from the UNCW nest, soon-to-be graduates have already helped their alma mater achieve a major milestone.

Each year, members of the graduating class have the opportunity to support UNCW through the Senior Class Giving Campaign. To date, more than 700 members of the Class of 2016-17 have made the important decision to make a gift before they graduate.

According to Missy A. Kennedy ’01, associate vice chancellor for university advancement, this puts the 2016-17 Senior Class Giving Campaign at 28 percent participation, with more than $21,000 in gifts pledged to various areas of the university – a record for UNCW.

“What will inspire me to keep giving back is knowing that UNCW is always growing and changing. There will always be new students coming through who want to make a difference just as much as the Class of 2017 has,” said Allyson Kristan ’17, Senior Class President.

Building on strong relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students and donors to support funding is a key component of UNCW’s Strategic Plan.
