After a national search, Andy Mauk has been named Associate Provost for Institutional Research and Planning, effective March 1, 2017.
Since October 2016, Mauk has been overseeing the IRP office on an interim basis. As the associate provost of IRP, he will continue to direct the university’s data collection, reporting and analysis functions and work closely with the Chancellor’s Office on strategic planning.
“Institutional research is more than just reporting stats,” said Mauk. “I recognize the role our department plays in providing accurate data to campus constituents to guide wise decisions in regard to our Strategic Plan, future programs, processes and policies.”
He previously served as the director of the UNCW Office of Student Affairs Assessment, Research and Planning. In addition, he teaches assessment, evaluation and strategic planning courses in the Watson College of Education and an online institutional research course at FSU.
“Andy’s collaborative approach has earned him a high level of trust at UNCW,” said Provost Marilyn Sheerer. “The IRP office is in good hands and will continue to grow under his proven leadership.”
Prior to joining UNCW, Mauk worked in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at Florida State University and served as the associate director of the Multicultural Center at the University of Arkansas. He holds both a Ph.D. in higher education and a certificate in Institutional Research from FSU.
