Renowned Journalist, Author T.R. Reid to Discuss Politics of Universal Healthcare

Thursday, October 13, 2016

As part of the College of Health and Human Services’ Health Transformation Lecture Series, T.R. Reid will discuss “The Politics of Healthcare: Colorado and the States Move Ahead” on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Kenan Auditorium.

Reid’s reporting for The Washington Post led to the national best-seller “The Healing of America” and two documentaries for PBS’s Frontline. He also provides commentaries for NPR's Morning Edition. In addition, he has made documentaries for National Geographic Television and the A&E Network. His latest film, “U.S. Health Care: The Good News,” premiered on the PBS network in 2012 and is still being broadcast by local PBS affiliates. This is Reid’s second appearance at UNCW; he was also a guest lecturer in 2013.

“Given the incredible success of Mr. Reid’s previous visit to UNCW, we are delighted to welcome him back to our campus,” said Charlie Hardy, dean of CHHS. “He is an influential speaker who is passionate about sharing his home state of Colorado’s campaign to achieve universal health care. This event will resonate with every member of the community.”

Reid is a member of the board of the Health Research and Education Trust, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and other community and educational institutions. He is Kai-cho, or president, of the Japan-America Society of Colorado.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Continuing Education Credits are available or $10. To register, click here.
