Puente, Johnson Named 2016 Health Care Heroes Finalists

UNCW professors Antonio Puente and Dan Johnson have been named 2016 Health Care Heroes finalists.

Puente, a psychology professor, is a finalist in the Community Achievement category for his work in his private practice, Clinical Neuropsychology. He also is the founder and co-director of mental health services at the Cape Fear Clinic, a bilingual health center serving the poor and uninsured.

Johnson, a recreation therapy professor and chair of the Accessible Coastal Carolina Events Sports and Services, was selected as a finalist in the Community Outreach category for his involvement with the Miracle League of Wilmington. The league is dedicated to providing children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to play sports.

Health Care Heroes is an award program sponsored by the Greater Wilmington Business Journal that honors individuals and organizations that are making a significant impact on the quality of health care in Wilmington.
