UNCW Recognized for Education Programs, Overall Value and Sustainability Efforts

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

UNCW’s Watson College of Education placed in two “Top 20” lists recently released by Teacher.org. WCE ranked 14th on the list of Best Colleges for Elementary Education and 20th among Best Colleges for Special Education. UNCW was the only University of North Carolina system school to make the list of top 20 special education programs.

The university was ranked 2nd among public universities and 34th overall on a list of Best Value Colleges 2017, and was rated one of the nation’s Cool Schools 2016 in Sierra Magazine, a publication of the Sierra Club. UNCW’s ranking at 188 among the top 201 schools featured was based in part on its Silver Star rating with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

“UNCW’s commitment to academic excellence, value and sustainability reflects our priorities as an educational institution,” said Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli. “UNCW’s consistent recognition at the national level shines a spotlight on our expert faculty and staff and their dedication to our students and our community.”

UNCW was recently ranked 6th among public universities and 16th overall on a new list of Best Regional Universities in the South, published by U.S. News & World Report; a top regional university by The Princeton Review; and 5th Best Public University in North Carolina on a list compiled by USA Today and College Factual.
