Communication Studies Faculty Member Edits Series for Lexington Books

Jeanne M. Persuit, associate professor in the UNCW Department of Communication Studies, is an editor and contributor to a forthcoming series from Lexington Books.

Integrated Marketing Communication: Creating Spaces for Engagement is set for publication in September 2016 and will be the first in the Integrated Marketing Communication series. Persuit is co-editor of the book and the author of a chapter.

Lexington approached Persuit in the fall of 2015 about editing a series of books because her book, Social Media and Integrated Marketing Communication: A Rhetorical Approach, was published by them in 2013.

“I proposed the IMC series with the goal of situating the theory and practice of integrated marketing communication, which includes advertising, public relations and promotions in the communication discipline,” said Persuit. “At the same time, my colleague and I were working on the proposal for an edited book from papers that were presented at the 2015 UNCW IMC Conference, which I help plan.”

Persuit has taught at UNCW since 2008 and holds a Ph.D. from Duquesne University. She co-authored a book chapter on the epideictic rhetoric and brand of Michelle Obama and has also published in Review of Communication and The Journal of the Association for Communication Administration.
