Marc Ellington, UNCW’s first water polo, diving and swimming coach, passed away on June 7, 2016.

He joined the UNCW program in 1982. During his 30-year tenure, he coached numerous CAA diving champions. In 2004-05, he was named CAA Diving Coach of the Year and collected the honor once again the following year.

He was born to the late Oliver W. and Evelyn Ellington in Hokido, Japan. He graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. He is survived by his brother, Greg; his sister-in-law, Maureen; a nephew, Ryan; and a niece, Tara, who is entering her junior year at UNCW.
