UNCW Continues to Monitor Tropical Storm Colin; Flash Flood Watch Issued for the Area
Monday, June 06, 2016
Updated: 3 p.m. - The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a flash flood watch for the Cape Fear region from 8 p.m. Monday, June 6, through Tuesday afternoon (June 7) in association with Tropical Storm Colin. UNCW, in collaboration with the National Weather Service, New Hanover County and other campus and community partners, will continue to monitor the storm.
At this time, no changes are planned to the university’s operating schedule. Updates will be provided as conditions warrant.
The Monday afternoon (June 6) forecast keeps the center of the storm offshore as it moves northeastward along the Southeast coast, but dangerous rip currents, heavy rain and localized flooding are possible. Be advised that rip currents are likely to affect the Cape Fear coast whether or not the storm makes landfall.
Please continue to monitor the UNCW homepage, the UNCW Alert website, Facebook and Twitter, the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751 and local media for additional information.
