Tropical Storm Colin Moving Offshore, UNCW Open and Operational

Tuesday, June 07, 2016

Updated: 6:20 a.m., June 7 - As Tropical Storm Colin continues to move offshore, UNCW’s main campus and the Onslow Extension Site are open and fully operational, with summer classes, orientation and other events proceeding on schedule.

A flash flood watch in effect for the area has been lifted and rain is expected to taper off throughout the morning. The potential for dangerous rip currents will remain high during the day, and students, faculty and staff are urged to exercise caution if visiting the beach today.

As always, students who do not feel comfortable traveling to or from classes should use their best judgment and contact their instructors. Faculty and staff should consult the Adverse Weather Policy (Condition 1) to determine their best personal course of action.

Additional updates will be posted if conditions warrant. Please continue to monitor the UNCW homepage, the UNCW Alert website, Facebook and Twitter, the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751 and local media for additional information.
