DREAMS of Wilmington and UNCW to Unveil “Forest of DREAMS” Mural
Tuesday, June 07, 2016
The official unveiling of a community project that has colorfully transformed a Wilmington neighborhood is slated for June 11.
The “Forest of DREAMS” mural, a collaboration between DREAMS of Wilmington and the University of North Carolina Wilmington, was created with the help of more than 500 volunteers and local artists. Watson College of Education professor Janna Robertson led the beautification effort, which involved the painting of a 240-foot mural featuring more than 60 fantasy creatures. The project began in March.
The unveiling ceremony begins at 2 p.m., followed by a free concert at 3 p.m. and a pizza party.
The “Forest of DREAMS” mural is located at the intersection of 10th and Fanning streets in downtown Wilmington. It abuts DREAMS of Wilmington, a center dedicated to inspiring and empowering children through the arts.
