Abrons Student Health Center Celebrates Accomplishments of Staff
Friday, June 10, 2016
Katrin Wesner, director of the UNCW Abrons Student Health Center, recently completed her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) at UNCW and was elected President of the Southern College Health Association in March.
She has directed the SHC since January of 2007. She is responsible for the oversight of the daily operations of the center, including medical services, health promotion and pharmacy. As president of SCHA, she will work with members to promote the health and well-being of the students and the campuses they serve through advocacy and serving as an agent of communication with the American College Health Association.
Melissa Ulstad, a certified physician assistant (PA-C) at the SHC, recently earned a specialty credential from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She was recognized with a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in psychiatry, a distinction earned by meeting licensure, education and experience requirements and then passing a rigorous exam in the specialty. She is one of only 36 certified PAs in North Carolina to earn a CAQ since the program’s inception in 2011.
Abrons Student Health Center is located in DePaolo Hall and provides health services to all students at little to no cost.
