Chancellor Sartarelli Announces $10,000 Bonus Challenge After UNCW Meets Original One-Day Giving Goal

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Thanks to the generosity of UNCW donors, the university has met the 500-donor goal for “Give More in 24” and received a $50,000 challenge gift. In honor of the giving spirit of the Seahawk community, Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli has announced a $10,000 bonus challenge if the university reaches a new goal of 800 donors by 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 20.

William Vaughan ’92, Chair of the UNCW Alumni Association, stresses that participation is more important than the size of one’s donation.

“This year’s challenge presents a great opportunity for alumni and friends to support the university and today’s Seahawk students. The number of alumni who give each year influences UNCW’s national rankings and enhances the value of our degrees. The best part is donors can support any college, academic program, scholarship, student organization or athletic team that is meaningful to them. If the donor-goal is met, every gift will be increased.”

This is the third year the university has issued a 24-hour challenge. Last year, UNCW raised nearly $200,000 in gifts and pledges.

Ways to give during the challenge:
