Wednesday, February 18, 2015

UNCW has been recognized by The Peace Corps in its rankings of top volunteer-producing colleges and universities across the country. This year, UNCW ranks No. 19 among medium-sized schools, with 14 alumni currently volunteering worldwide. In North Carolina, UNCW is the fourth-highest producer of volunteers and the seventh all-time volunteer-producing institution in the state.

Established in 1961 by former President John F. Kennedy, the Peace Corps sends Americans abroad on behalf of the United States to tackle challenges in education, health, economic development, agriculture, environment and youth development. Through their service at the grassroots level, volunteers gain a unique cultural understanding of people’s needs around the world.
