The UNCW Office of Community Partnerships has scheduled four planning meetings on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 3 p.m. to develop strategies for a community-wide action plan in response to Wilmington’s youth violence.

After last year’s youth violence community forums, the City of Wilmington developed a list of recommendations and goals for the region.

Each committee meeting will focus on a specific area and will work to identify which of the recommendations are currently being served by organizations in our community; propose opportunities for organizations and individuals to assist in areas that are not currently being served; and develop a timeline and communication plan.

- Education: Facilitated by Donyell Roseboro, director of the Professional Development System in the Watson College of Education. This meeting will take place in Trask Coliseum room 119A.

- Prevention and Intervention: Facilitated by Stephanie D. Smith, director of the Office of Community Engagement in the College of Health and Human Services. This meeting will take place in McNeill Hall room 1031.

- Jobs: Facilitated by Nastasha Davis, executive director of UNCW’s Quality Enhancement for Non-Profit Organizations (QENO) Center. This meeting will take place in Cameron Hall room 110.

- Law Enforcement: Facilitated by Tom Barth, professor and coordinator of the Strategic Management Academy in the Department of Public and International Affairs. This meeting will take place in Leutze Hall room 103.

Any additional discussion regarding policies, resources and funds allocation may also be included in the strategic planning meeting.
