UNCW Department of Communication Studies Hosts Inaugural Integrated Marketing Communication Camp

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Last month, the UNCW Department of Communication Studies hosted its first Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) Camp in Leutze Hall. The two-day workshop for communication professionals focused on branding, market research, and content creation and analytics for social media.

Sessions were taught by faculty members Jeanne Persuit, Rick Olsen, Bill Bolduc, Jennifer Brubaker and Julie-Ann Scott. Attendees included staff from the UNCW Office of Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Lookout Books and the College of Health and Human Services, as well as communication professionals from high-tech and health care firms in Raleigh, Charlotte and Columbia, S.C.

"I loved being back in the classroom for IMC Camp," said Missy Kennedy, a 2001 graduate and director of annual giving at UNCW, "No matter what industry you work in, it's easy to get lost in the trenches of deadlines, data and 'best practices.' IMC Camp was a great refresher in the basics I was taught more than a decade ago and provided insight into the newest communication tools that I've not yet mastered."

Communication Studies also hosts the biennial Integrated Marketing Communication Conference. The first was held in summer 2011.
