North Carolina Treasurer Janet Cowell to Provide Welcoming Remarks at UNCW's CIE "The Big 5 Employers: Pains That Keep Us Up at Night"

Wilmington, N.C. - North Carolina State Treasurer Janet Cowell will offer opening remarks at the UNCW's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship breakfast event, The Big 5 Employers: Pains That Keep Us Up at Night, on April 24. Cowell will discuss the importance of innovation to Southeast North Carolina's economy, meet with local innovators and learn more about economic development initiatives in the Wilmington region.

"Innovation is key to growing North Carolina's economy," said N.C. Treasurer Cowell. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to discuss innovation and job creation - and overcoming challenges - with key leaders in Southeast North Carolina."

With over 20 years of private and public-sector financial leadership, Cowell oversees more than 80 billion dollars in pension investments for the more than 875,000 teachers, firefighters, and public employees in North Carolina. The first woman to hold the Treasurer's office, she manages the 32nd largest public pension in the world and the third most solid in the nation.

The breakfast will create an opportunity for innovators to learn about what solutions large local employers and industries currently need. Hosted by the CIE, the event will be held at The Terraces on Sir Tyler. Seating is limited and registration is currently open. Tickets can be purchased for just $20. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 8 a.m.

The CIE works with a number of local businesses and partners to provide unique opportunities and networking events.
