Must have completed 3rd grade and turn 9 by June 1st

Hey campers, are you ready to rise to the challenge? Our coastal habitats are under pressure and need your help. Water quality is being threatened, toxic algae are taking over, and our barrier islands are’t able to migrate.  Even that annoying, but very important biofouling community is being challenged!  Not to mention some of our favorite marine organisms like Sea Turtles who have their own hurdles to overcome.  Join us for a week of environmental fun as you learn how to help protect our important coastal habitats from these challenges.

Our 9-10 year-old programs are designed to focus on the NC 4th grade science education standards. Enjoy a week of camp while being immersed to concepts your will learn this upcoming year or reinforce concepts you have already learned!

Field excursions include:

  • Going to the beach, an undeveloped barrier island, marsh, fouling station, Center for Marine Science, kayaking, Greenfield Lake, and Topsail Sea Turtle Hospital

Highlights include:

  • Investigating environmental challenges including water quality, coastal erosion, toxic algal blooms, and the challenges that your favorite marine organisms have to deal with; kayaking and boat trip to undeveloped barrier island
