Kelly Mintern to Serve as Interim Chief Audit Officer, Stefanie Powell Moves to CHHS

Kelly Mintern will serve as UNCW’s Interim Chief Audit Officer beginning March 30, 2020. Kelly joined the Office of Internal Audit as an auditor in September of 2010 and was promoted to Assistant Director in March 2015. In this role, Kelly is responsible for managing engagements within the office, assisting with development of the annual audit plan, and ensuring the office continuously meets its mission to enhance and protect the University.

Before joining UNCW, Kelly worked as an audit senior at Dixon Hughes PLLC in Greenville, NC. Prior to that, she was employed as an audit senior/staff in the Financial Services sector at Deloitte & Touche in New York. Kelly is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and a CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).

Stefanie Powell, who has led the Office of Internal Audit since 2012, will be joining UNCW’s College of Health and Human Services as the Assistant Dean for Administration and Resource Management.

Office of Internal Audit

Within the Office of Internal Audit, our objective is to enhance and protect the University. This is accomplished by providing independent auditing, advisory, and investigative services to assist management in balancing operational efficiency with risk identification, assessment, and control. We report to the Audit, Risk, and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees and collaborate with management to enhance assurance and accountability at all levels of the University community.
