Bill McKibben, author of 1989’s groundbreaking The End of Nature, the first book to bring the idea of global warming to a general audience, will speak at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the Burney Center. He is also the founder of, the premier citizen interest group working to raise awareness of the science regarding climate change. 

After his presentation, he will have a conversation with David Gessner, chair of the creative writing department, about Hurricane Florence and the particular challenges that Wilmington faces.
