2018-19 UNCW Theatre Season

Thursday, November 08

The UNCW Department of Theatre opens their 2018-19 production season with “Getting Out,” a drama written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Marsha Norman.

“Getting Out” is the story of Arlene, who has been deemed “completely rehabilitated” after serving an eight-year prison sentence for robbery, attempted kidnapping and murder. As she tries to navigate post-prison life and avoiding falling back into the old habits that landed her in jail, glimpses of her younger and more violent self emerge through flashbacks.

The production runs Nov. 8-11 & 15-18 on the Mainstage Theatre in UNCW’s Cultural Arts Building. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Sunday performances at 2 p.m.

Other slated season productions include:
"Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood" Feb 21-24 & Feb 28, March 1-3
"Six Characters in Search of an Author" April 4-7 & 11-14

Tickets are $15 for the general public; $12 for seniors, UNCW alumni, faculty and staff; and $6 for students. Tickets are available for purchase at the Kenan Box Office, by calling 910.962.3500 or online. Tickets can also be bought in person one hour before each show.

Please note “Getting Out” contains profanity and depictions of assault and harassment that may not be suitable for children under the age of 14.
