Ashley Huygens

My name is Ashley Huygens. This is my sixth year of teaching. I currently serve as the Gifted Resource & S.T.E.A.M. Teacher at Bitz Intermediate School in the DoDEA: Mid-Atlantic district. I previously taught Middle School Science at Propel Charter School in my home city, Pittsburgh, PA and 4th Grade in Onslow County Schools.  While in Onslow County Schools, I served as the AVID (Advancement Via Individualized Determination) Coordinator and Math Counts Coach.

I attended Robert Morris University where I received my B.S. in Elementary Education: Science Concentration. I continued my education at East Carolina University where I completed an add on licensure certificate in Academically and Intellectually Gifted.  I am also certified to teach Middle School Math and Science.  I am an exceptional, self-motivated, interactive, dedicated, organized, and engaging teacher with a passion for instructing children and adults to be lifelong learners and leaders.

My professional interests include helping children reach their academic and social potential through supported relationships, the use of technology integration and strength-based learner centered approaches. My lifelong goal as an educator is to make an everlasting impact by instilling pride, confidence, morale, and dedication in students and teachers through opportunities, nurturing relationships, and engagement with my teachable spirit. I am most eager to enhance my professional growth by learning more about additional hands-on learning approaches for differentiated instruction and how I can become an active teacher leader in a new school.
