The College of Health and Human Services celebrated its 7th Annual Convocation and Carnival on Friday, September 15, 2017.

UNCW music major, Mariah Sutton opened the ceremony with a beautiful rendition of Mariah Carey’s and Whitney Houston’s When You Believe and social work alumna, Becca O’Neill moved the audience with her Alumni Keynote Address about her work as a Senior Immigration Attorney at KY Refugee Ministries, a nonprofit where she practices immigration law with a focus on asylum, special immigrant juvenile status, refugee family reunification, representation of undocumented migrants and family based immigration law.

Faculty and staff were also recognized for their achievements as members of the college. After the ceremonies, CHHS faculty, staff and their families enjoyed food, fun and games on the lawn next to the UNCW Amphitheater.

CHHS Community Partner, The Miracle League of Wilmington operated by Access of Wilmington, Inc., provided the lawn games. Miracle League Mascot, Homer, also made a special appearance at the event.

The event was held at the UNCW Amphitheater in conjunction with UNCW’s 70th birthday celebration.
