CHHS Leadership Team Members Invited to Local and State Leadership Programs

Sheri Shaw, assistant dean for student success, and Tanya Armour, director of development for major gifts, have been selected to be a part of Leadership Wilmington over the course of the next academic year.

Leadership Wilmington is a 10-month-long program designed to educate, challenge and motivate leaders and future leaders to use their skills to enhance the community. Sheri and Tanya will attend a retreat at the beginning of the program and the class will meet one full day each month, September through April 2018. Each of the sessions will focus on a different aspect of the community, such as government, public safety, infrastructure, economic development, arts and culture, and education. Also, they will complete a class project called “Work on Wilmington,” a hands-on event that provides class members an opportunity to put their leadership, decision-making and teamwork skills to work.

In addition to Leadership Wilmington, Sheri has been selected to be a part of the Leadership North Carolina XXV Class. Leadership North Carolina works with state luminaries to improve the quality of life in North Carolina “through visionary hands-on programming that integrates the areas of economic development, education, environment, government and health and human services.”

Sheri will participate in six two-and-a-half-day sessions held in locations from the mountains to the beach.
