Southeastern NC Regional Health Collaborative Hosts Community in Crisis: Our Community's Response to the Opioid Epidemic

Last summer, the Southeastern North Carolina Regional Health Collaborative, SEAHEC and the College of Health and Human Services brought together regional leaders to host a call to action around opioid harm reduction in our communities.

On April 10, the collaborative held their third event, “Community in Crisis: Our Community’s Response to the Opioid Epidemic.” This event drew more than 600 attendees to Kenan Auditorium to hear about current efforts to target opioid harm reduction in our community, which include the development of a Quick Response Team, prescription medication awareness, partnering with faith-based communities to reach the community-at-large, the creation of the Community Partners Coalition and an education and awareness initiative for health providers and the community-at-large via social media and live education events.
