Program: 3 years (33 months and 8 semesters consisting of 113 credit hours), admits 32 students, and starts in August.

Application: Deadline is October 1st. Program admits students on a rolling basis, so apply early. An interview is a part of the process.

In-State Tuition (total): $32,764. This does include student fees, but not additional costs.

  • Average GPA: 3.3-3.5
  • Average Prerequisite GPA: 3.6
  • Average GRE Scores: Verbal - 64%; Quantitative - 56%; Analytical Writing - 4.0
  • Health care experience: 129+ hours in variety of settings recommended.
  • Three letters of recommendation: 1 from licensed PT, 1 from faculty member, 1 other.


The applicant must have completed the following courses prior to enrollment in the program. No more than two prerequisite courses may be outstanding at the time of application. All science courses must include a lab.

  • Human Anatomy and Human Physiology (6-8 semester hours) (UNCW: BIO/L 240 and BIO/L 241 - or - EXS/L 216 and EXS 217)
  • Chemistry (8 semester hours) Acceptable courses include general chemistry, biochemistry, and organic or inorganic chemistry. (UNCW: CHM 101 and CHM 102)
  • Physics (8 semester hours) Courses must include mechanics, electricity, heat, sounds, and light. (UNCW: PHY/L 101 and PHY/L 102)
  • Statistics (3 semester hours) (UNCW: STT 210 or STT 215)
    • One lecture should include descriptive statistics and tests of hypotheses. Qualitative research methodology is recommended but not required. Satisfactory courses in statistics include those taught by departments of psychology, math, education, computer science, and sociology. Statistics courses in departments such as business and health professions services are also acceptable, if they include the content describe above.
