OT Application Tips:

  • Some programs use a central application, OTCAS.
  • Start researching schools and prerequisite requirements early! Most schools require the majority of your prerequisites to be complete prior to applying in the fall of your senior year.
  • Submit applications well before the deadline (at least a week before) in case something goes wrong or needs updating.
  • Be sure to request letters of recommendation and GRE scores prior to application deadlines.
  • Programs do not suggest that you work your first semester as it can be a lot.
  • Personal statement is very important.
  • Attend information sessions to learn more about programs - you need to visit the schools you are applying to.
  • ECU provides an online "Exploring Occupational Therapy" course fall spring and summer and provides a great overview of the profession - OCCT 3000 at ECU.
