Amy Merritt

Having practiced nursing for 11 years, Amy Merritt earned her ADN from Sampson Community College, her BSN from UNCW and her MSN-Nurse Educator from East Carolina University. She worked on a cardiac unit at NHRMC for five years as staff nurse and coordinator. In 2011 Merritt left her hospital position to teach nursing at Coastal Carolina Community College and later at Cape Fear Community College until 2017.

She served as the president of the NC Associate Degree Nursing Council from May 2016 until she began her position at UNCW. Currently Merritt is teaching a clinical course in the prelicensure fundamentals course and a health policy course in the RN-BSN program.
