Carol Highsmith: EdD, RN, NE, Lecturer
Dr. Carol Highsmith obtained her AAS in the nursing program at Southeastern Community College in 1982 and began working as a staff nurse at Pender Memorial Hospital providing comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients in various departments including emergency room, critical care, medical-surgical, and outpatient surgery. She went on to earn her BSN, MPA, Nurse Educator Certificate, and most recently, her Ed.D. from UNCW.
Highsmith has taught in the School of Nursing since 2006, providing clinical instruction for junior nursing students in acute care, community health, gerontology clinical, and Simulation Laboratory. Additionally, she provided service learning opportunities for students enrolled in the Community Health Clinical course after she received a CTE grant to further develop service learning pedagogy.
