Susan Gell, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Susan Gell is an ANCC board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse with extensive experience in professional development, psychiatric, perioperative, emergency, and critical care settings. Aside from practical nursing experience, she has taught at the undergraduate level since 2002 in areas such as psychiatric mental health, medical surgical, and senior capstone courses.
Currently, Gell's research is focused on a quality improvement project to increase generalist staff nurses' knowledge and comfort level in caring for patients with dual or multi-diagnosis and incorporation of a suicide risk screen tool into acute care setting with local health care partners.
Aside from teaching,Gell continues to work on special projects with health care partners. Additionally, she is also active in the Carolina Australian Cattle Dog Rescue and Rebound as a foster family and volunteer.
