I Can Do It, You Can Do It

I Can Do It, You Can Do It is a national program launched in May 2004 by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Disability. UNC Wilmington is the only program of this type in North Carolina and one of 6 programs in the nation.

The I Can Do It program utilizes faculty and students from the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences to provide mentoring for physical-activity programs for individuals with disabilities, both physical and cognitive, in the Wilmington community. Mentors (university students) are matched with individuals with disabilities with the express purpose of assisting participants to safely and successfully participate in an organized physical-activity session at the UNC Wilmington campus. The program follows up by encouraging additional physical-activity time through the week by going walking, bowling, hiking, biking, or any other form of physical activity.

The program also offers information to the participants and their families about nutrition and making healthy food choices.

The program meets on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Hanover Gym. If you want more information, please email Dr. Jordan Weber, This is free of charge, so please do not hesitate to ask questions, get involved, and find participants for this community-based program. Parents and guardians are asked to participate and fill out entry forms on the first day they arrive.
