Melissa Sinclair, B.A.
Director of Development for Major Gifts

Melissa Sinclair joined the College of Health and Human Services as the Director of Development for Major Gifts and University Advancement in 2019. Prior to UNCW, Melissa served as the Executive Director for the Eastern Carolinas Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for almost nine years. In her role at MDA, Melissa saw first-hand the need to improve access to care for medically underserved patient populations in Southeastern North Carolina, the creation of ability-focused community initiatives like The Miracle League of Wilmington and the increasing stronghold and growth of the clinical research field. It was these opportunities and others that led Melissa to CHHS, where she can further drive health access, innovation and technology through the growth, sustainability and increased community engagement of the College.

Melissa is a native of Wilmington who graduated from UNCW in 2001. Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice before beginning an almost two decade career in non-profit management. In her role at UNCW, Melissa will be focused on donor procurement and stewardship for the purpose of enhancing the educational mission, program offerings and student and faculty recruitment in the College of Health and Human Services.
