UNCW Communication Studies Productions Receive Broadcast Education Association Awards

Three UNCW communication studies student productions have been honored by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts with an Award of Excellence.
“Demon's Advocates,” by Fiona Johnston and Caleb Olsen, was recognized in the Audio Specialty Program and Podcast category, and “Cincinnati AlchemyFest 2022: Building Brands & Building Community” and “Digital Drip: ENJ & Louis,” both by Thaddaeus Freidline and Will Matthews, received awards in the Student Film and Video Competition: Spots (short promotional videos) and Live-to-Tape Multi-Camera Studio or Remote Production categories. David Pernell, senior lecturer, and Bill Bolduc, associate professor, in the Department of Communication Studies, are the instructors and executive producers of the productions.
The BEA Festival of Media Arts is an international digital media and broadcast competition for students and faculty. This year the competition received more than 1,650 entries worldwide. Winners will be recognized during the BEA’s annual conference April 15-18 in Las Vegas.
