Psychology Professor Kate Nooner Elected to National Register of Health Service Psychologists Board of Directors

JANUARY 07, 2021

Kate Nooner, professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Psychology, has been elected to the National Register of Health Service Psychologists Board of Directors. Nooner will serve a four-year term beginning January 2021.

The National Register of Health Service Psychologists is the largest credentialing organization for psychologists and psychology doctoral students.

“I am proud to serve UNCW, the Department of Psychology, the Wilmington region and the state of North Carolina in this national board position,” Nooner said. “Particularly with UNCW’s growing Ph.D. program in psychology, my role as a leader in this critical organization focused on psychology credentialing in healthcare is more important than ever.”

Established in 1974, the nonprofit organization is dedicated to improving healthcare by identifying psychologists who meet specific education and training standards, and by verifying these professionals to consumers, healthcare organizations and regulatory bodies. Nooner has been credentialed by the National Register since 2012.
