Bryant Terry is an eco chef, food justice activist and author of Vegan Soul Kitchen. With the help of a Kellogg Foundation Food and Society Policy Fellowship, he recently started the Southern Organic Kitchen Project to raise awareness, develop policies and make "fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food affordable to community members." In 2002, he founded b-healthy! (Build Healthy Eating and Lifestyles to Help Youth), a multiyear initiative designed to empower youth to be active in creating a more just and sustainable food system. His talk will explore the concept of food justice and positions us to understand how poverty, racism and classism impact peoples' opportunities to access healthy food and live healthy lives.

Tickets $9 public, free for UNCW students, faculty and staff. Call Kenan Box Office 910.962.3500 or buy tickets at

Leadership Lecture Series

The Leadership Series serves as a forum for intellectual inquiry and discussion offering the campus and community opportunities to discuss and explore the political, cultural and economic trends and issues that shape and affect our communities today. By inviting a speaker to the campus, the university does not endorse any particular position. Expect to be enlightened, challenged and inspired.
